For New Whitby Parents

Welcome to Whitby School. We invite you to join our vibrant, active parent community as your child begins his or her own journey. Below are some resources you may find useful right away. (If you are still considering Whitby for your child, you may wish to start on our Why Whitby page.) If your questions are not answered here, please feel free to contact Tinisha Garnett in Admissions, or contact the Class Parent for your child's classroom.

Parent/Student Handbook
The Parent/Student Handbook contains information about starting and ending times for each division, rules and policies, medical and illness information, and more. To view an online version click here.

Host Families
Each new family at Whitby is assigned a Host Family - a current Whitby family who has offered to be your ambassador at school. Your host family can answer common questions, help you get oriented in the Greenwich community, and may help you arrange play dates for your new Whitby students.

Dress Code
Children ages 3 and older who are in Primary or above are required to dress according to the Whitby Dress Code. Please review our dress code requirements and vendor options here. Or if do not have the password, click on Dress code tab on left side of this website page (below "For New Whitby Parents").

Phase-In
At the beginning of each academic year, children Stepping Stones and Primary have a transitional schedule to allow them to become comfortable in the classrooms and to allow the teachers to get to know each of them in smaller groups. Middle Elementary students and older begin with a full schedule on the first academic day.

Please choose your child's program below to view the Phase-In schedule for that division. Specific dates will be provided in August.

Parent Association
At Whitby we have a very involved and active parent body. Parent activities and school activities run by parents are all organized by the Parents Association. Please read about our organization here. To volunteer, please contact: pa@whitbyschool.org.
