Time Is On Your Side

In light of this year's 4th grade Exhibition and its central idea of Mindfulness and well-being's impact on learning, I'd like to share an interesting article on time called 'Why Time Slows Down When We’re Afraid, Speeds Up as We Age, and Gets Warped on Vacation.'

The paradox of time has always been a fascination of mine and I often wonder if time is merely a concept and not a reality, as its existence cannot be physically proved. Even Einstein once said, 'Time is an illusion'.

When we wish for Fridays, for the week to be over, for spring, for something always on the horizon, aren't we technically wishing our lives away? When we say we don't have the time, why aren't we looking for the thief who stole it? When we say we wish we had more time, what savings plan should we go for? How is time impacting your mindfulness/well being and learning? Do you run your time or do you let time run you?

Consider what a wonderful blessing it is to be part of our children's and students' inner and outer time zones and universes every day.

Then consider why we as adults consistently insist on traveling alongside them at warp speed Mach 9 or/and most often in a parallel universe.

Someone, somewhere once told me that we don't always need a plan, a schedule, an organizer, a calendar. Sometimes all we need is just to breathe, trust, let it go and see what happens.
