How To Apply To Whitby
Whitby School welcomes applications for all grade levels. We encourage you to begin the admissions process in the fall so you are able to take full advantage of all the wonderful opportunities we have for you to visit Whitby.
Admissions is currently on a rolling basis and Whitby is accepting applications for select grades. Currently due to classroom expansion, entry grades are 3rd through 6th.
Step 1: Inquire

Step 2: Visit
Families are invited to attend one of our Open Houses (click here to view schedule) to get an introduction to Whitby School. Additionally, please contact us to schedule your Parent Visit. During this visit, we will offer you a more personalized tour and conduct a parent interview where you will have the opportunity to discuss your child (ren). Please email or call us to schedule this visit. If both parents are unable to attend the interview in person, we are able to conduct it via Skype.
Step 3: Apply
Complete the online application form (click here) along with a $75.00 application fee payable online via credit card. To be considered in the first round of admissions decisions the deadline for applicants to Stepping Stones and Primary 1 is November 9, 2012. For applications to Primary 2-grade 8 the deadline is December 15, 2012.
The deadline for the parent visit and applicant visit is November 9, 2012 for Stepping Stones – Primary 1 applicants. The deadline for records and recommendation forms (if applicable), parent and students visits is January 15, 2013 for Primary 2 & 3 applicants. The deadline for applicatns to Grades 1-8 is February 1, 2013.
Children should be the appropriate age for their grade by August 1 of the entering year. The appropriate age for entering Kindergarten is 5 by August 1 and so on. However, the Admissions Committee takes into consideration individual children’s varying degrees of maturity and developmental readiness for school, and makes every effort to place each child into the grade in which he or she is most likely to succeed.
Step 4: Student Visit and Assessment
Once the application and records (transcript & recommendations) have been received, students will be invited to visit. The duration of this visit depends on the grade to which you are applying.
Step 5: Letters of Notification
Letters of Notification are mailed to families in coordination with other Independent Schools in Greenwich on February 22, 2013. First round decisions for Stepping Stones and Primary 1 applicants will be made on November 15, 2012; thereafter admission will be on a rolling basis.
