Whitby is looking for dedicated and caring individuals who have experience with children to work as substitute teachers.
Experienced candidates should hold a degree. Experience or knowledge of Montessori education and/or International Baccalaureate is highly desirable; all positions require team teaching and strong collaborative skills.
Some of the areas for substitute teaching include:
- Infant-Toddler Teachers (Ages 18 months to 3 years)
- Early Childhood Teachers (Ages 3-5 years)
- Elementary Teachers (Ages 6-10)
- Middle School Teachers (Grades 5-8)
- Learning Specialists (Special Education, Math Specialists, Gifted and Talented)
- Special Area Teachers (Art, Music, Drama, Foreign Language, and Physical Education)

The Whitby Montessori Children's House seeks an Early Childhood Learning Specialist for our Stepping Stones Program. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of Early Child Development and working with children under the age of 6. This position is a temporary replacement for approximately 6-8 months. The salary for this position will be pro-rated based on the length of the assignment.
Qualifications:
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification is a plus but not required.
- Coaching families/caregivers on learning activities that promote a child's acquisition of skills in a variety of developmental areas, including motor development, cognition, communication, personal social interaction and self-help skills.
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals of diverse backgrounds, including parents, caregivers, and other professionals.
- Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
- Skills working with families and children with differing abilities.
- Skills planning and organizing.
- Ability to demonstrate good communication, cultural sensitivity, interpersonal skills, and work independently and in a team environment.
- Assist families with accessing information and community resources.
- Document all records and forms in a timely, accurate, complete, and legible manner.
- Communicate details of each child's progress and development with faculty and team members.
- Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines.
