Financial Aid at Whitby
Whitby School believes that qualified students who desire an education should not be denied that opportunity because of economic hardship. Thus, we are proud to offer financial aid (for new and existing Whitby families) that helps us provide a balanced school community and at the same time keep the school financially healthy. Please note that financial aid application for new families can only be processed if the student’s admissions application is complete.
Independent schools in Greenwich offered aid ranging from 11 % to 16% as a percentage of total tuition for the 2008-2009 school year. Last year, thanks to the commitment of our generous donor community, Whitby awarded 16% in financial aid. For the forthcoming 2010-2011 academic year, financial aid will be granted based on:
- The completion of the 2010-2011 financial aid application
- The submission of requisite financial information
- Response a short financial aid questionnaire (to be completed by existing aid applicants only.)
Tuition Assistance is available beginning in Primary 3 (5 year olds). The student application fee is waived for families applying for financial aid.
All families applying for financial aid must complete the Parent’s Financial Statement (PFS) available online through the National Association of Independent Schools website at www.nais.org. Whitby’s school code is 8182.
Financial Aid is based on the Report of Family Contribution (RFC) generated by SSS and meets a percentage of need as estimated in the RFC. We strongly encourage the online filing of the PFS form for the quickest and most accurate completion of the financial aid application. Families are also encouraged to file their 2009 tax returns prior to the Financial Aid deadline of March 15, 2010. Final financial aid awards decisions will be made upon receipt of 2009 tax returns as filed with the IRS. All financial aid information is kept strictly confidential and we expect families receiving financial aid to respect the confidentiality of the process.
